Founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter, the company is still in family control, being third generation. The company has grown from making wines from the family estate of 100 hectares on the Veneta-Fruili boarder, to working with producers across Italy, especially in the regions of Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo and Sicily.

Boarskloof Chenin Blanc 2009 x 2

Corporal Pieter Cruythoff, a scout of Jan van Riebeeck, founded the Riebeek Valley in 1661. Impressed by the single standing mountain, he called it Kasteelberg (Castle Mountain) commemorating the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, the fortress of Commander Jan van Riebeeck. The twin towns, Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West, established at the foot of Kasteelberg, are therefore also suitably named after Van Riebeeck.

The Riebeek Valley is a mecca of wonderful wines, and the winery sources its grapes from the fertile land and the slopes of the mountain where the climate is very similar to the Mediterranean. Through the years as vineyard practices developed, cultivars were planted in soil and at slopes best suited to them.

Terre d`Or Sauvignon Blanc 2009 x 2

A fresh, aromatic white wine selected from small parcels of Mediterranean hillside vineyard where chalky soils allow Sauvignon to express its vibrant natural aromatic character. The wine was matured on its lees for 8 months to enhance the expression of hedgerow, gun flint and citrus fruits. It is crisp and elegant on the palate, with soft fruit with a mineral finish.

Stéphane loves working with the terroir and goes to great lengths to ensure the balance of the wine-making process, striving for harmony of the natural environment, of the grapes, the wines produced and even of the wine in the glass. He has an instinct for seeking out the best conditions to get the best results, and his passion is reflected in the quality of his wines.

Fashionable variety and the cooler climate regions in Chile make some excellent examples.This is terrific with quite an exotic aroma of dried apricots, pineapple, banana and lychee.
